Low Speed Assist
- Check fluid level and belt tension. Start engine and let idle. Turn steering wheel lock-to-lock several times to warm fluid. Attach spring tension scale to steering wheel at outer end of spoke.
- Make sure vehicle is on a clean, dry surface. With engine at idle, pull on tension scale until tires begin to turn. Reading should be no more than 4 lbs. (1.81 kg).
- If reading is higher than specified, stop engine. Disconnect large hose between control unit and speed sensor at sensor. Plug hose and sensor fitting.
- Start engine and run at idle speed. Measure pull as described above. Replace sensor if scale reads less than 4 lbs. (1.81 kg). If reading is greater than 4 lbs. (1.81 kg.), check gear box and pump.
