Engine Identification
Engine number is stamped on a machined surface at rear side of engine block (in front of starter motor) on all models. First 2 characters (first 3 on carbureted Prelude) of number identify engine type. The 3rd character (4th on carb. Prelude) identifies model year (3 for 1986). The 4th character identifies emission group (0 for Calif.; 2 for 49 state, Ohio built; 5 for 49 state). The remaining 5 characters identify engine serial number.
