Carburetor - KEIHIN 1-Bbl: Overhaul: Disassembly
- Remove 4 mounting screws and disconnect upper vacuum tube manifold from carburetors. Remove the upper install pipe. Disconnect connectors for fuel shut-off solenoid valve and air vent cut-off solenoid valve.
- Disconnect vacuum hose from lower vacuum tube manifold, remove 2 mount screws and remove lower vacuum tube manifold from carburetor. See Fig 1 .
- Disconnect fuel hoses from carburetors and remove screws and fuel line. Remove 2 screws securing idle boost diaphragm. Pull out cotter pin and washer. Remove A/C idle boost diaphragm from top rear of carburetors.
- Remove 2 screws and disconnect linkage by pulling out cotter pin. Remove throttle opener diaphragm. Remove cotter pin from thermowax valve linkage and disconnect linkage. Remove 2 screws and fuel crossover pipe.
- Remove 5 screws and front mount bracket. Unhook choke spring shaft. Remove 4 screws and rear mount bracket. Separate left and right carburetors.
- Remove vacuum chamber, vacuum piston and spring. Inspect piston and needle for wear. Replace as necessary. Remove the seal ring and "O" ring. Remove 2 screws, plate, jet covers and gaskets from carburetor to expose air passages.
- Remove primary and secondary main air jets and slow air jets. DO NOT mix up the jets. Remove accelerator pump cover, spring and diaphragm from left carburetor. Check diaphragm and spring for cracks or damage. Replace as necessary.
- Remove 3 screws, power valve cover, spring and diaphragm. Check diaphragm and spring for damage and replace as needed. Remove air vent cut-off solenoid valve from right carburetor. See Fig 1 .
- Remove fuel cut-off solenoid valve. Remove float bowl, float arm pin, float and float valve. Remove secondary main jet and needle jet holder. Remove pressed-in primary main jet with its "O" ring.
- Remove power valve jet. Remove needle jet, primary slow jet (underneath primary main jet) and power valve nozzle (underneath power valve jet). Clean all carburetor passages with spray carburetor cleaner and blow out with compressed air. See Fig 2 .
