Carburetor Synchronization
- Remove air cleaner cover and filter element. Remove air intake screens and air intake flanges. Install synchronization adapters (07504-SB00000) and tighten nuts to 3.6 ft. lbs. (5 N.m).
- Connect tachometer, start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Ensure cooling fan comes on. Measure air flow through both adapters using vacuum type carburetor synchronizer.
- If flow rates are identical, remove synchronizer and adapters. Reinstall remaining parts in reverse order of disassembly. If air flow rates are different, loosen adjusting screw lock nut and adjust as needed.NOTE: The adjusting screw only affects the right carburetor. Turning screw clockwise decreases air flow and vice versa.
- If flow rates can not be balanced, check for air leaks or carbon build-up on throttle valve. Tighten adjusting screw lock nut and recheck flow rates. Readjust if necessary. Reinstall remaining components in reverse of removal procedure.
