Float Level

  1. Ensure vehicle is on level ground. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Snap throttle between idle and 3000 RPM several times and then let engine idle.
  2. When fuel level stabilizes, check that it touches center mark on each inspection window. If fuel level is higher or lower than mark, adjust by turning auxiliary and/or primary/secondary float external adjusting screws. See Fig 1 .
Fig 1: Checking/Adjusting Auxiliary & Primary/Secondary Float Levels During adjustment, DO NOT turn adjusting screws more than 1/8 turn every 15 seconds.

  3. When correct float level is achieved, paint adjusting screws with White paint to aid visual inspection of adjustment screw locations and to help prevent adjustments from changing.
