Removal & Installation
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove spark plug wires from distributor cap. Remove distributor cap. See Figure. Disconnect distributor electrical connector. Mark distributor-to-engine position and distributor rotor-to-distributor housing position for installation reference. Remove one hold-down bolt. Remove distributor. Remove "O" ring from distributor housing.
- Do not rotate crankshaft with distributor removed, or reference marks will be incorrect. Install a NEW "O" ring into distributor housing. To install distributor, use reference marks and reverse removal procedure. Install mounting bolt. Tighten mounting bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Check ignition timing. See IGNITION TIMING in the ADJUSTMENTS article.
