Cylinder Block

CAUTION: Prior to assembling cylinderhead to cylinder block, ensure oil flow check valve is properly installed in cylinder block main oil feed passage (slotted end up). See Figure.
  1. Using feeler gauge and straightedge, check cylinder block head surface warpage. If warpage exceeds specification, repair as necessary. See CYLINDER BLOCK  under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
  2. Measure cylinder bore diameter at 1.96" (50 mm) and 3.74" (95 mm) from top of cylinder bore. Different size cylinder bores are used. Cylinder bore can be identified by "1" or "2" stamped on deck surface in accordance with cylinder location. See Figure. Rebore all cylinders if block taper or out-of-round exceeds specification.
