Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Heated Oxygen sensors are mounted in exhaust manifold and in exhaust pipe after TWC. Sensors are equipped with a permanent pigtail which must be protected from damage when removing sensor. Ensure sensors are free of contaminants, but avoid using cleaning solvents of any type.
  2. HO2S-2 sensor may be difficult to remove when engine temperature is less than 120°F (49°C). Use care not to damage exhaust manifold or exhaust pipe threads. Always use anti-seize compound on threads before installing NEW sensor. New sensor comes pre-coated with anti-seize compound. DO NOT remove anti-seize compound from sensor. Tighten HO2S-2 to 29-36 ft. lbs. (40-50 N.m).
