Cruise Control System: Description

This cruise control system has the capability to cruise, coast, resume speed and accelerate. Cruise control system will generally maintain desired vehicle speed, with some variations caused by steep grades up or down.

Main cruise control system components are Cruise Control Module (CCM), actuator, cruise control mode switch, cruise control indicator, Engine Control Module (ECM), Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) and cancel switches. Cancel switches are used to disengage cruise operation. Cancel switches include brakelight switch, cruise control on/off switch, Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch (A/T) or Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) interrupt switch (M/T).

Throttle Position (TP) sensor, located on throttle body, sends a voltage signal to ECM. ECM converts TP sensor signal into a duty signal. CCM uses TP sensor duty signal to determine throttle position.
