Idle-Up Circuit
The EBCM signals the Engine Control Module (ECM) to increase engine idle speed during an ABS stop. When vehicles transfer case is in 4 HIGH or 4 LOW, EBCM may command the ECM to idle-up during an ABS stop to reduce engine-induced braking. Engine braking, especially on icy roads, tends to reduce ABS performance. EBCM logic determines when idle-up is necessary. The ECM will ignore any idle-up requests from EBCM until vehicle speed is at least 12 MPH.
