Steering Column

NOTE: Steering column and shaft is not serviced separately. DO NOT attempt to disassemble steering column assembly. Replace as a unit only.

If vehicle has been involved in a substantial collision, check steering column for collapse by measuring steering shaft. On Tracker with air bag, measure dimension "A". See Fig 1 . On Tracker without air bag, measure upper and lower steering column sections. See Fig 2 . If measurement is not within specification, replace steering column. See STEERING COLUMN LENGTH  table. Also ensure upper steering column mount is not damaged and securely attached.
