Voltage is applied at all times to the stoplight switch. When brake pedal is depressed, voltage is applied through stoplight switch to the permanently grounded shift lock relay, energizing it. Shift lock relay then applies voltage to the permanently grounded shift lock solenoid, energizing it, therefore allowing gear selector lever to be moved from the "P" position.
