Description & Operation

Nippondenso starters are solenoid-actuated gear reduction type. Starters are equipped with overrunning clutch/drive assembly. The brush holder assembly contains 4 brushes and springs in the commutator end of starter housing. The integral starter solenoid is attached to the drive housing. Vehicle uses either a Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) switch (M/T) or a Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch (A/T) incorporated within starter wiring circuit. Prizm uses a starter relay in starter wiring circuit.
