Circuit Description
PCM uses Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor and Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor to monitor changes in crankshaft rotation for each cylinder to detect a misfire. If a difference in crankshaft rotation for a specific cylinder(s) is present, MIL will illuminate. If difference in crankshaft rotation is significant, MIL will flash, indicating a catalytic converter damaging condition. DTC P0300 will set when engine misfire is present and:
- Engine speed is between 200 and 1000 RPM.
- Battery voltage is between 9 and 17 volts.
- Engine coolant temperature is between 20°F (-7°C) and 245°F (123°C).
