Diagnosis & Repair

  1. Connect scan tool to DLC. Start engine and allow to reach normal operating temperature. Select O2S1 parameter on scan tool. Snap throttle. If O2S1 voltage varies between 200-900 mV, go to next step. If O2S1 voltage does not vary as specified, go to step 3).
  2. Select CLEAR INFORMATION function. Using scan tool, place vehicle into CHECK MODE. Operate vehicle within FREEZE FRAME conditions. If DTC P0125 resets, go to next step. If DTC P0125 does not reset, check for an intermittent problem. See TESTS W/O CODES article.
  3. Disconnect O2S1 connector. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, set to DC volt scale. Connect positive lead to battery positive terminal, and negative lead to Black wire of O2S1 harness connector. If scan tool reads greater than 1200 mV, go to next step. If scan tool reading is not as specified, go to step 5).
  4. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe Brown wire of O2S1 harness connector. If test light comes on, replace O2S1. Retest system. If test light does not come on, go to step 6).
  5. Check for open O2S1 input circuit (Black wire) between O2S1 and PCM. Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, replace PCM. Retestsystem.
  6. Check for open O2S1 ground circuit (Brown wire) between O2S1 and PCM. Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, replace PCM. Retest system.
