Circuit Description

Cooling fan is controlled by PCM through cooling fan relay. PCM monitors Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. By monitoring ECT sensor, PCM can determine when to operate cooling fan motor. When temperatures rise above 208°F (97.5°C), PCM will provide a ground path for cooling fan relay. When temperatures fall below 199°F (92.5°C), PCM will remove ground from cooling fan relay. DTC P1460 will set when output voltage check fails with cooling fan motor on.
