Circuit Description

Vehicle speed information is supplied to PCM by VSS. VSS is a magnet generator mounted in transaxle case that produces a pulsating AC voltage. AC voltage level and number of pulses increase with vehicle speed. DTC P0500 will set when vehicle speed sensor signal is not present during fuel shut-off mode for more than 4 seconds.
