Camshaft Position Sensor

  1. A malfunction in the camshaft position sensor circuit will set diagnostic trouble DTC 42. For testing procedures, see TESTS W/CODES - 1.0L 3-CYL article. Use the following procedure to diagnose camshaft position sensor.
  2. Ensure air gap measures .008-.016" (.2-.4 mm). Adjust as necessary. If air gap is okay, disconnect distributor 2-pin electrical connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between terminals of distributor connector. Resistance should be 205-255 ohms at 68°F (20°C). If resistance is not as specified, replace camshaft position sensor.
NOTE: Electrical load sensor may be referred to as diode module or diode.
