Description & Operation
Steering system uses steel balls in a recirculating pattern to transfer rotary motion of steering shaft into a linear motion in the rack gear. Rack gear, in turn, moves the sector gear. See Fig 1 . The pitman arm is solidly attached to sector gear and, through the tie rods, allows the vehicle to turn.
