Chart A-5, Fuel Injector Circuit Check (Engine No-Start): Notes
When solenoid coil of fuel injector is energized by ECM, it will activate injector plunger and pressurized fuel will be injected into each combustion chamber. Fuel pump will operate as long as engine is cranking and ECM is receiving ignition reference pulses. If ECM does not receive reference pulses, fuel pump will stop after 3 seconds.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
- Checks for an open in Blue/Black wires between fuel injectors and ECM.
- Sets up the fuel injector tester (J-39021).
- Checks engine coolant temperature for proper test conditions.
- Checks for faulty fuel injectors when engine coolant temperature is between 50-90°F (10-35°C).
- Checks for faulty fuel injectors when engine coolant temperature is greater than or less than 50-90°F (10-35°C).
- Checks for proper fuel pressure prior to testing injectors for proper balance.
- Tests injectors for fuel pressure drop.
- Checks for faulty fuel injectors.
