Description & Operation

Steering columns are an energy-absorbing, collapsible design. Components include upper and lower column sections, steering shaft and universal joints which connect column and steering gear. Some models may have a tilt steering column.

WARNING: Prizm is equipped with Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) with driver side and passenger side air bags. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without disabling SRS. Before performing ANY tests or repairs on steering column, SRS MUST be disabled. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING SRS . Accidental air bag deployment could cause serious bodily injury.
