Code 41 (Upgraded Emissions) - No Ignition Signal: Notes

ECM receives an ignition fail-safe signal when ignition switch is turned to START position. Igniter will toggle on and off when ECM receives signal. As igniter is toggled on and off, so is the primary windings if the ignition coil, thus inducing a voltage into secondary windings of ignition coil. This induced voltage is then used to fire spark plugs. Code 41 will set if toggled ignition fail-safe signal is not present at ECM within 3 seconds of cranking.

1. Checks for power at ignition coil.
2. Checks for open or short circuit to ground in wires between ignition coil, noise suppressor filter and igniter, or a faulty ignition coil.
3. Checks for faulty noise suppressor filter.
4. Checks for faulty noise suppressor filter.
5. Checks for open or short circuit to ground in Brown/White or Brown wires.
6. Checks for open in Black wire.
7. Checks for faulty Brown/Yellow wire, igniter or ECM.
