Neutral Safety Switch

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Ensure gearshift lever and transmission shift selector lever are in NEUTRAL position. Loosen neutral safety switch retaining bolt. Disconnect neutral safety switch 2 wire connector. See Fig 1 .
  2. Connect a DVOM to neutral safety switch connector terminals. Rotate neutral safety switch as far clockwise (downward) as possible.
  3. Slowly rotate neutral safety switch counterclockwise (upward) until a click is heard and continuity is obtained on DVOM. Tighten switch retaining bolt to 15 ft. lbs. (20 N.m). Connect neutral safety switch connector and negative battery cable.
