Description & Operation
Steering columns are an energy-absorbing, collapsible design. Components include upper and lower column sections, steering shaft and universal joints which connect column and steering gear.
WARNING:
On models equipped with Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system, disable system before attempting steering column service. Use caution when working around steering column (air bag could deploy).
