Diagnostic Aids

An open in ECM circuit (White wire) will result in 4-5 volts at instrument panel connector terminal C5. This voltage is sourced from transaxle ECU on 4-speed transaxle only.

Scan tester should indicate a vehicle speed whenever drive wheels are turning faster than 3 MPH. Check VSS signal wire for proper connection. Ensure wire connector is clean and tight, and harness is routed correctly.

On A/T, a faulty or misadjusted Park/Neutral (P/N) switch can result in a false Code 24. Use scan tester and check for proper signal while in Drive.

A faulty reed switch in instrument panel can be cause of an intermittent Code 24. Inspect reed switch for poor connections and/or a crack in the glass vapor tube.
