Rack Guide Preload

  1. Back off rack adjusting screw. See Figure . Tighten rack adjusting screw until it is snug. Using an INCH-lb. torque wrench and Socket (J-34871), measure rotational torque of pinion gear.
  2. Torque reading should be 10.6 INCH lbs. (1.2 N.m). Back off adjusting screw (up to 90 degrees) until specified torque is achieved. Ensure rack moves smoothly. Install cap on adjusting screw.
