Reassembly & Installation

  1. To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure. Tighten TBI body assembly screws to 31 INCH lbs. (3.5 N.m). To install, reverse removal procedure. Use new base gasket with no sealer.
  2. Tighten throttle body-to-manifold bolts to 17 ft. lbs. (23 N.m). Refill cooling system. On automatic transaxle models, adjust Throttle Position (TP) sensor. See THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR in ADJUSTMENTS article in this section.
  3. On manual transaxle models, adjust throttle switch. See THROTTLE SWITCH in ADJUSTMENTS article in this section. Reconnect negative battery cable. Pressurize fuel system, and check for leaks.


  1. Assemble upper and lower throttle bodies with NEW gasket. Install and tighten 2 upper-to-lower throttle body attaching screws to 31 INCH lbs. (3.5 N.m). Install fuel pressure regulator with NEW "O" ring, and tighten mounting screws to 31 INCH lbs. (3.5 N.m).
  2. Install ISC solenoid valve with NEW gasket, and tighten mounting screws to 31 INCH lbs. (3.5 N.m). Apply thin coat of gasoline to NEW injector "O" rings. Install "O" rings on injector. Insert injector into throttle body. Carefully install wiring harness to injector.
  3. Install injector cover. Tighten screws to 31 INCH lbs. (3.5 N.m). Install TP sensor. Clamp wiring harness securely to side of throttle body. Adjust TP sensor. See THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR in ADJUSTMENTS article in this section. Install NEW throttle body base gasket on intake manifold. DO NOT  use sealer or glue.
  4. Install throttle body and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Refill cooling system. Pressurize fuel system, and check for leaks.
