Overhaul - JF-403-E: Description

The JF403-E transaxle is a fully automatic 4-speed consisting of a 3-element hydraulic torque converter and converter clutch. Transaxle uses a gear rotor-type pump to supply all hydraulic pressure needed for operation.

The multiplied torque from torque converter is transferred to the transaxle by a gear train assembly. Other internal components consist of 3 multiple disc clutches, an overrun clutch, a low one-way clutch, forward one-way clutch, low-reverse brake, brake band and 2 planetary gear sets. The final drive gear and differential assemblies are an integral part of the transaxle.

The JF403-E uses 2 electronic shift solenoids, controlled by the Automatic Transaxle Control Module (ATCM). The line pressure is electronically regulated by an ATCM-controlled duty solenoid. This model also uses a solenoid to control Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) lock-up.
