Code 71, EGR Temperature Sensor Circuit (CALIF. Only)

Code 71 indicates that EGR temperature sensor has signaled the ECM of a temperature greater than, or less than, the calibrated range.

1. ECM should provide 4-5 volts to EGR temperature sensor.
2. ECM provides ground for EGR temperature sensor.
3. Checks EGR temperature sensor resistance.
