Fuel System Pressure Release
WARNING:
ALWAYS relieve fuel pressure before disconnecting any fuel injection-related component. DO NOT allow fuel to contact engine or electrical components.
- Remove fuel filler cap to relieve tank pressure. Remove fuel pump relay from underhood relay center. Relay center is located on left side of engine compartment near battery. Start engine and let run until it stalls.
- Engage starter for about 10 seconds to ensure fuel line pressure has dissipated. Turn ignition off. Slowly loosen fuel outlet fitting at fuel filter located at driver's side frame rail. Use shop towel to absorb fuel that escapes as fuel pressure is relieved. When fuel stops leaking, tighten line.
