Prizm GSi

  1. Disconnect electrical connector from TPS. Install a .014" (.35 mm) feeler gauge between throttle lever and stop screw. See Fig 1 . Using ohmmeter, ensure continuity exists between terminals E2 (Brown wire) and IDL (Blue wire). See Fig 1 . Remove feeler gauge.
  2. Install a .023" (.58 mm) feeler gauge between throttle lever and stop screw. Ensure no continuity exists between terminals E2 and IDL.
  3. If resistance values are incorrect, loosen TPS retaining screws. Rotate TPS until correct readings can be obtained. Hold TPS and tighten retaining screws.

THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS) RESISTANCE

Application & Condition Specification
Between Terminals E2 & IDL (1)(2) Continuity
Between Terminals E2 & IDL (2)(3) No Continuity
(1) With .014" (.35 mm) feeler gauge installed between stop screw and lever.
(2) Terminal E2 is the top terminal (Brown wire). The IDL terminal second terminal (Blue wire) from the top of TPS.
(3) With .023" (.58 mm) feeler gauge installed between stop screw and lever.
