Chart A-3, Cranks But Won't Run, Except GSI: Notes

The ignition switch supplies voltage to ignitor located inside the distributor. The crank angle sensor provides a reference signal to ECM. ECM uses this reference signal to determine when to operate ignitor for ignition coil operation.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. An open or defective fuse may cause a no-start condition.
  2. This checks for defective spark plug wires.
  3. This checks for defective fuel injectors.
  4. This determines if ignition coil is supplying spark to the distributor.
  5. This tests ECM toggling of fuel injector.
