Injector (TBI) R & I: Removal
- Relieve fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM in BASIC TESTING article. To remove injector from throttle body, remove air intake case from top of throttle body. Disconnect fuel line from throttle body. Remove 2 mounting screws and lift off injector cover.
- Unplug injector harness. See Fig 1 . Slide injector harness grommet from throttle body. Place a shop cloth over injector. Apply less than 70 psi (4.9 kg/cm2 ) of compressed air into fuel inlet port of throttle body to remove injector. DO NOT soak injector in any type of solvent or cleaner.
WARNING:
To prevent personal injury and damage to injector, do not use more than 70 psi (4.9 kg/cm2
) to remove injector.
