Lower Case Assembly: Reassembly

  1. Install pin, friction gear, friction gear spring, friction gear retainer and circlip to countershaft. Install countershaft into lower case. Install outer circlip to front bearing. Support lower case and countershaft and install front bearing to countershaft using Bearing Installer (Geo J35871 or Suzuki 09913-84510). See Fig 3 . Install circlip to countershaft using circlip remover/installer. Using bearing installer, install bearing into lower case.
  2. Install center bearing using Bearing Installer (Geo J37754 or Suzuki 09951-16080) with Bearing Installer (Geo J35664). See Fig 4 . Install center bearing plate and torque bolts to 53 INCH lbs. (6 N.m).
  3. Install reverse gear and 5th gear to shaft. Assemble reverse idler gear, bearing and thrust washer to reverse idler gear shaft. Install reverse idler gear assembly into lower case and torque bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 N.m). Using bearing installers, install countershaft rear bearing.
