Code 51, Exhaust Gas RECIRCULATION (EGR) Circuit CALIFORNIA Only): Notes

The EGR Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV) solenoid is controlled by the ECM. The VSV solenoid is supplied with battery voltage. The ECM completes the ground circuit to energize the VSV solenoid.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. This checks for a short to ground.
  2. This checks for voltage from main relay.
  3. This checks if code is faulty or ECM is faulty.
