Repair Procedures: Replacement

CAUTION:
  • When removing with a flat-tip screwdriver or remover, wrap protective tape around the tools to prevent damage to components.
  • Put on gloves to prevent hand injuries.
  1. Remove the center pillar lower trim.

    (Refer to Interior Trim - "CENTER PILLAR TRIM ")

  2. Remove the center pillar upper trim.

    (Refer to Interior Trim - "CENTER PILLAR TRIM ")

  3. Remove the front anchor seat belt (A).

    Information 

    • Removal method for anchor seat belt.
      • Push the front anchor seat belt (A) in the direction of (1).
      • Insert the screwdriver in the direction of (2).
      • Remove the front anchor seat belt (A) by pulling it in the direction of (3).
    CAUTION:
    • Make sure not to scratch the anchor cover by the tool when pushing the slot hole.
  4. Loosen the mounting bolt and remove the front seat belt upper anchor (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    39.2 - 53.9 N.m (4.0 - 5.5 kgf.m, 28.9 - 39.8 lb-ft)

  5. Press the lock pin and separate the front seat belt pretensioner connector (A).

  6. Loosen the mounting bolt and remove the front seat belt pretensioner (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    Bolt (B): 39.2 - 53.9 N.m (0.8 - 1.2 kgf.m, 28.9 - 39.8 lb-ft)

    Bolt (C): 7.8 - 11.8 N.m (4.0 - 5.5 kgf.m, 5.8 - 8.7 lb-ft)

  7. To install, reverse removal procedure.

    Information 

    • After installing the front seat belt retractor, check that the air bag warning indicator illuminates for about 6 seconds when the ignition is ON and then goes out.
    • Make sure the connector is plugged in properly.
    • Replace any damaged clips (or pin-type retainers).
