Check TPS

  1. Ignition switch is turned "ON".
  2. Monitor signal waveform and output voltage of TPS by stepping on and off the accelerator pedal in GDS.

    Specification:

    Throttle Opening (°) Output Voltage (V) [Vref=5.0]
    TPS1 TPS2
    0.5 4.5
    10° 0.96 4.05
    20° 1.41 3.59
    30° 1.87 3.14
    40° 2.32 2.68
    50° 2.78 2.23
    60° 3.23 1.77
    70° 3.69 1.32
    80° 4.14 0.86
    90° 4.6 0.41
    98° 4.65 0.35
    C.T (0) 0.5 4.5
    WOT (86) 4.41 0.59
  3. Is the measured signal waveform shown the above O.K?

    YES

    • Substitute with a known-good ECM and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace ECM and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.

    NO

    • Substitute with a known-good TPS and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace TPS and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure. (After replacing ETC, do initialization of ETC as follows)

Procedure of ETS Initialization

  1. Erase the trouble codes in ECM.
  2. Turn the ignition key "OFF" until the main relay turns "OFF". (It will take about 10 sec.)
  3. Turn ignition key "ON" for more than 1 second to record the throttle motor position in the EEPROM.
