Repair Procedures: Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedures.
    CAUTION:
    1. When installation is it check that there is no gap between the torque converter housing (A) and the engine block (B).

    2. This gap means the torque converter is not assembled correctly and it can cause damage on the key (A) of oil pump gear. In this case, reinstall the torque converter correctly after removing the transmission assembly.

    3. If the mounting bolt is tightened forcibly in spite of a gap, key of oil pump gear will be damaged or broken. In this case, replace the automatic transmission assembly.
    NOTE: Follow the separated each procedure as below according to reinstallation or replacing with a new automatic transmission.
  2. In case of the reinstallation.
    1. Check the ATF level after refilling the automatic transmission with fluid.

      (Refer to Automatic Transmission System - "AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF) ")

    2. Clear the diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) using the GDS.
      NOTE: Even though disconnecting the battery negative terminal, the DTCs will not be cleared. So, be sure to clear the DTCs using the GDS.
  3. In case of the replacing with a new automatic transmission.
    1. New automatic transmission is already filled with specified quantity ATF. For that reason, it does not necessary to refill and check the ATF but the remaining ATF inside of ATF cooler have to be removed.
    2. The DTCs are not cleared even by disconnecting the battery negative terminal. So, be sure to clear the DTCs using the GDS.

    3. Reset the automatic transmission adaptive values using the GDS.

    4. Perform the oil pressure characteristics input procedure.

      4-1) If you can access the Internet, perform the oil pressure characteristics input procedure using the GDS.

      4-2) If you can not access the Internet, record the bar code data (oil pressure characteristics) on the automatic transmission case and then input it manually onto the GDS.

    5. Perform the TCM adaptive values learning procedure.

      (Refer to Automatic Transmission Control System - "TCM LEARNING ")
