Repair Procedures: Replacement
- Recover the refrigerant with a recovery/recycling/charging station.
- Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Remove the front bumper.
(Refer to Body - "FRONT BUMPER COVER ")
- Remove the smart cruise control system.
(Refer to Engine Electrical System - "SMART CRUISE CONTROL (STOP & GO) (SCC) UNIT-RADAR ")
- Remove the head lamps.
(Refer to Body Electrical System - "HEAD LAMPS ")
- After loosening the mounting bolt, remove the air duct (A).
- Disconnect the air guard connector (A).
- After loosening the mounting bolts and screws, remove the air guard (A).
Tightening torque:
Bolt: 7.8 - 11.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.2 kgf.m, 5.8 - 8.7 Ib-ft)
Screw: 6.9 - 9.8 N.m (0.7 - 1.0 kgf.m, 5.1 - 7.2 Ib-ft)
- Remove the transmission oil cooler (A) mounting bolts.
- Remove the strut bar (A).
- Remove the radiator support panel (A).
- Remove the discharge line (B) and liquid line (A) from the condenser after loosening the nuts.
Tightening torque:
3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.3 lb.ft)
- Remove the condenser (A) from radiator.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.NOTE:
- If you're installing a new condenser, add refrigerant oil.
- Replace the O-rings with new ones at each fitting, and apply a thin coat of refrigerant oil before installing them. Be sure to use the right O-rings for R-1234yf to avoid leakage.
- Be careful not to damage the radiator and condenser fins when installing the condenser.
- Charge the system, and test its performance.
