DTC P1821-13: Motor Wire Open: General Description

The AWD ECU controls the 4WD system to deliver the torque to the front and rear wheels. The 4WD system will compress the multilayered clutch by generating oil pressure from rotating the motor pump (=actuator) installed in the transfer case. The compression level by oil pressure determines the torque passed onto the wheels. The AWD ECU detects a fault related to wire harness or the motor pump by monitoring the voltage, current, and temperature of the actuation circuit of the motor inside the ECU. It turns on a warning lamp and stores a DTC.
