[Water Temperature Control Assembly]

  1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal from the trunk room.
  2. Remove the engine room under cover.

    (Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

  3. Loosen the drain plug and drain the engine coolant.

    (Refer to Cooling System - "COOLANT ")

  4. Remove the air cleaner assembly.

    (Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "AIR CLEANER ")

  5. Remove the water inlet pipe.

    (Refer to Cooling System - "WATER TEMPERATURE CONTROL ASSEMBLY ")

  6. Remove the surge tank.

    (Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "SURGE TANK ")

  7. Remove the water outlet pipe.

    (Refer to Cooling System - "WATER TEMPERATURE CONTROL ASSEMBLY ")

  8. Disconnect the heater inlet/outlet hose (A).

    NOTE:
    • When installing heater hoses, install as displayed in images.

  9. Remove the cowl top cover.

    (Refer to Body - "COWL TOP COVER ")

  10. Disconnect the wiring connectors and harness clamps and remove the connector brackets around the water temperature control assembly.

  11. Disconnect the heater hose (A).

  12. Remove the heater pipe (A).

    Tightening Torque 

    19.6 - 23.5 N.m (2.0 - 2.4 kgf.m, 14.5 - 17.4 Ib-ft)

  13. Remove the water temperature control assembly (A) and the gasket.

    Tightening Torque: 

    19.6 - 23.5 N.m (2.0 - 2.4 kgf.m, 14.5 - 17.4 Ib-ft)

    NOTE:
    • When installing, replace with new gaskets.
  14. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  15. Fill the radiator with coolant and check for leaks.

    (Refer to Cooling System - "COOLANT ")

  16. Start engine and check for leaks.
  17. Recheck the coolant level.
