Repair Procedures: Installation

CAUTION:
  • Note the value (A) carefully and check the value again before assembly.
  • Inputting an invalid value may cause the abnormal shifting shock while TCM learning.

  1. Check if the pipe (A) is inserted on the marked area before mounting the valve body assembly.

  2. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  3. Inject Automatic Transmission Fluid. (Refer to FLUID - "Automatic Transmission System")
  4. Clear the diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) using the GDS.

    Information

    • Even though disconnecting the battery negative terminal, the DTCs will not be cleared. So, be sure to clear the DTCs using the GDS.
  5. Reset the automatic transmission adaptive values using the GDS.

  6. Input the oil pressure characteristics using the GDS.
    1. Select 'Oil-pressure Characteristics Input (Solenoid Valve Replacement)' in the S/W Management.

    3. Check the code marked on the solenoid valve.
CAUTION: (Check the code at first before replacement)

  7. In order to prevent start delay and gear shift shock during acceleration and start, perform TCM learning after replacing the transmission, TCM, and solenoid valve.
    NOTE: TCM Learning
    1. Learning Overview and Purpose
      • It aims to correct the deviation between transmission products to reduce learning time and secure initial driving safety.
      • When gear shift shock has occurred at the 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 positions, delete the previous learning values using GDS device and perform TCM learning again.
    2. Learning Conditions
      • Perform learning after replacing automatic transmission and TCM.
      • Maintain constant APS level in the case of upshift. (10% < APS < 25%)
      • Perform the following pattern at least three times (finish when the gear shifts stably).
    3. TCM Learning Method
      1. Condition
        • Hot engine (stable idle RPM)
        • ATF temperature: 30 - 95°C
      2. Learning Method
        1. Learning with the vehicle stopped
          • While pressing and holding the brake (vehicle is stationery), set the throttle opening to 0% and repeat the following procedure five times.
Fig 12: Vehicle Stopped Timing Pattern

        2. Learning with the vehicle running
          • Maintain a consistent throttle opening at the D position and gradually shift from 1st gear position to 8th gear position one by one. Then, gradually shift from 8th gear position to 1st gear position one by one (brake: on, throttle opening: 0%).
          • Throttle opening for upshift: 10 - 25%
          • Repeat the above procedure three times.

    CAUTION:
    • After inspecting the oil level and replacing the transmission fluid, remove the oil outside the automatic transmission. (Especially, remove the remaining oil between the transmission case and the oil fan.)
