Repair Procedures: Removal
- Loosen the wheel nuts slightly. Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.
- Remove the front wheel and tire (A) from the front hub.NOTE: Be careful not to damage the hub bolts when removing the front wheel and tire.
- Remove the brake caliper assembly.
(Refer to Brake System - "FRONT DISC BRAKE ")
- Loosen the driveshaft caulking nut (A) and then remove the brake disc by loosening the screw (B-3EA).
Tightening torque
A: 274.6 - 294.2 N.m (28.0 - 30.0 kgf.m, 202.5 - 217.1 lb-ft)
B: 4.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.5 - 0.6 kgf.m, 3.6 - 4.3 lb-ft)
- Remove the wheel speed sensor by loosening the wheel speed sensor bracket bolt (A) and wheel speed sensor mounting bolt (B).
Tightening torque:
6.9 - 10.8 N.m (0.7 - 1.1 kgf.m, 5.1 - 8.0 lb-ft)
- Remove the tie rod end ball joint from the knuckle.
- Remove the split pin.
- Remove the castle nut.
- Disconnect the ball joint (A) from knuckle (B) using the special tool (09568-2J100).
Tightening torque:
88.3 - 107.9 N.m (9.0 - 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 - 79.6 lb-ft)
- Using the special tool (09568-2J100), remove the compression arm from the knuckle.
Tightening torque:
88.3 - 107.9 N.m (9.0 - 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 - 79.6 lb-ft)
- Loosen the nut and using the special tool (09568-2J100), remove the lateral arm from the knuckle.
Tightening torque:
88.3 - 107.9 N.m (9.0 - 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 - 79.6 lb-ft)
- Using the special tool (09568-2J100), remove the upper arm from the knuckle and then separate the knuckle assembly.
Tightening torque:
78.5 - 88.3 N.m (8.0 - 9.0 kgf.m, 57.9 - 65.1 lb-ft)
- Using a plastic hammer, disconnect driveshaft (A) from the axle hub (B).
- Loosen the drive belt. [LAMBDA]

- Remove the compressor and fix other components surrounding the compressor with wire. [LAMBDA]
(Refer to Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning - "COMPRESSOR ")
- Remove the driveshaft (LH) by loosening the mounting bolt (A).
Tightening torque:
53.9 - 63.7 N.m (5.5 - 6.5 kgf.m, 39.8 - 47.0 lb-ft)

NOTE: When installing the inner driveshaft, make sure that the dowel pin is inserted into the hole of oil pen before tightening bolts. - Insert a pry bar between the transaxle case and joint case, and separate the drive shaft from the transaxle case. [RH]
- Install in the reverse order of removal.NOTE: Use a SST (09581-11000) when installing the brake caliper assembly.
