Installation Procedure

  1. Fill the transfer case with the recommended fluid. Fill the transfer case so fluid is at a minimum 11 mm (0.43 in) below the bottom of the fill plug hole. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers , and Approximate Fluid Capacities .

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Caution .

    Install a NEW fill plug (1) and seal and tighten to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).

  3. Install the power transfer unit heat shield, if equipped. Power Transfer Unit Heat Shield Replacement
