Circuit/System Verification
- Vehicle ON, verify no DTCs are set.
- If DTCs are set
Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle .
- Go to next step: If no DTCs are set
- If DTCs are set
- Vehicle OFF. With the charge cord NOT connected to the vehicle battery charger receptacle, verify the vehicle plug-in charging status indicators are OFF.
- If the vehicle plug-in charging status indicators are not OFF with the charge cord disconnected from the vehicle
Refer to Plug-In Charging Indicator Malfunction .
- Go to next step: If the vehicle plug-in charging status indicators are OFF
- If the vehicle plug-in charging status indicators are not OFF with the charge cord disconnected from the vehicle
- Vehicle OFF and connect the charge cord to the vehicle battery charger receptacle.
- Verify the VEHICLE charge status indicator is operating properly. Refer to Diagnostic Aids.
- If the vehicle charge status indicator operates as expected for conditions/settings
Refer to Circuit/System Testing.
- If the vehicle charge status indicator is not illuminated
- Vehicle ON.
- Verify the Charge Cord Connected message is displayed in the instrument panel/message center.
- If the Charge Cord Connected message is displayed, refer to Plug-In Charging Indicator Malfunction .
- Go to next step: If the Charge Cord Connected message is NOT displayed
- Refer to Circuit/System Testing.
NOTE:Vehicle must be ON and not in Service Mode for message operation.
- Go to next step: If the vehicle charge indicator is operating properly
- If the vehicle charge status indicator operates as expected for conditions/settings
- Review the K16A Battery Energy Control Module 1, Charge History Scan Tool Parameters. Inspect for any conditions that prohibited AC Charging.
- If an off-vehicle charge cord/station condition or delayed charging prohibited AC Charging
The vehicle is OK. Advise customer about delayed charging operation or charge cord/station condition.
- Go to next step: If an off-vehicle condition or delayed charging was not observed
- If an off-vehicle charge cord/station condition or delayed charging prohibited AC Charging
- All OK.
Always inspect for debris in both the receptacle and the charge cord that might prevent complete insertion. Snow/Ice, insects or other foreign material may prevent good electrical connection and should be removed before attempting to diagnose charging complaints.
If using the vehicles dual-mode cordset you should confirm proper cordset operation and indicator illumination BEFORE connecting to the vehicle.
The Charge History parameters record the conditions present during the last 5 charge events.
