Circuit/System Verification

    NOTE:

Always inspect for debris in both the receptacle and the charge cord that might prevent complete insertion. Snow/Ice, insects or other foreign material may prevent good electrical connection and should be removed before attempting to diagnose charging complaints.

  1. Vehicle ON, verify no DTCs are set.
    • Go to next step: If no DTCs are set
  2. Vehicle OFF. With the charge cord NOT connected to the vehicle battery charger receptacle, verify the vehicle plug-in charging status indicators are OFF.
    • Go to next step: If the vehicle plug-in charging status indicators are OFF
  3. NOTE:

If using the vehicles dual-mode cordset you should confirm proper cordset operation and indicator illumination BEFORE connecting to the vehicle.

  4. Vehicle OFF and connect the charge cord to the vehicle battery charger receptacle.
  5. Verify the VEHICLE charge status indicator is operating properly. Refer to Diagnostic Aids.
    • If the vehicle charge status indicator operates as expected for conditions/settings

      Refer to Circuit/System Testing.

    • If the vehicle charge status indicator is not illuminated
    1. Vehicle ON.
    2. NOTE:

Vehicle must be ON and not in Service Mode for message operation.

    3. Verify the Charge Cord Connected message is displayed in the instrument panel/message center.
      • Go to next step: If the Charge Cord Connected message is NOT displayed
    4. Refer to Circuit/System Testing.
    • Go to next step: If the vehicle charge indicator is operating properly
  6. NOTE:

The Charge History parameters record the conditions present during the last 5 charge events.

  7. Review the K16A Battery Energy Control Module 1, Charge History Scan Tool Parameters. Inspect for any conditions that prohibited AC Charging.
    • If an off-vehicle charge cord/station condition or delayed charging prohibited AC Charging

The vehicle is OK. Advise customer about delayed charging operation or charge cord/station condition.

    • Go to next step: If an off-vehicle condition or delayed charging was not observed
  8. All OK.
