Circuit/System Description

The drive motor battery charger cable supplied with the vehicle allows charging using a common household power outlet. The drive motor battery charger cable contains LEDs that indicate the status of the drive motor battery charger cable. The drive motor battery charger cable automatically prohibits voltage transfer to the hybrid/EV battery charger receptacle if it senses internal faults or inadequate household voltage.

When the Battery Energy Control Module 1 senses the drive motor battery charger cable is connected to the vehicle charge receptacle, it will communicate with the off-vehicle charge equipment to ensure compatibility and proper function. The Battery Energy Control Module 1 will then indicate the status of charging events (including user-programmable delays) to the user via the receptacle mounted plug-in charging status indicator LEDs and audio tones.
