Installation Procedure

  1. GM5831378
    NOTE:

    Note: If vehicle is equipped with a front camera sensor for Driver Assistance Systems, the system may not work properly or work at all, due to a low windshield caused by missing locating pins.

    Excessive wind-noise may occur if the windshield is higher than the sheet metal due to the following conditions:

    • Old urethane adhesive bead not being cut low enough and is left excessively thick.
    • Windshield alignment/locating pin (s) are not fully in the alignment hole (s).
    • Windshield not being firmly pressed around the entire outside edge to wet-out the urethane adhesive bead during installation.
    • Urethane adhesive bead drying before windshield was installed.
  2. Windshield (1) - Install - Adhesive Installation of Windshields 
  3. With the aid of an assistant, install the windshield (1) and locating pin (2) to the vehicle.

    Clean the inside of the windshield before installing the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket (1).

  5. Windshield Multifunction Sensor Mount Bracket (1) - Install

    Front View Camera (1) - Install

  7. Slide the front view camera (1) downward to engage.
  8. Secure the retaining tab.
  9. Connect the electrical connector.
  10. Prior to the installation of the of the windshield outside moisture/ambient light and humidity sensor, clean the windshield surface and sensor bracket with an Isopropanol Alcohol, wipe until the surfaces are thoroughly clean.

    Connect the headlamp automatic control ambient light sensor wiring harness connector (2) to the windshield outside moisture/ambient light and humidity sensor (3).

  12. Windshield Outside Moisture/Ambient Light and Humidity Sensor (3) - Install NEW
  13. Connect the headlamp automatic control ambient light sensor wiring harness connector (1) to the headliner wiring harness connector.

    Inside Rearview Mirror (2) - Install

  15. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  16. Inside Rearview Mirror Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  17. Connect the electrical connectors.

    Install the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover (1) ensuring the retaining tabs are fully seated.

    Install and apply pressure upward on the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover insert (1) to engage the retaining tabs.

    Air Inlet Grille Panel (2) - Install

  21. Windshield Washer Nozzle Hose - Install
  22. Air Inlet Grille Panel Retainer (1) - Install [4x]

    Clean the windshield wiper transmission pivot shaft splines with a soft wire brush before installing the windshield wiper arms (3).

  24. Position the windshield wiper arms (3) on the windshield wiper transmission pivot shafts.
  25. Windshield Wiper Arm Nut (2) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
  26. Windshield Wiper Arm Finish Cap (1) - Install [3x]

    If required, realign the windshield wipers to their respective alignment circles (1) on the windshield.

  28. Lubricate the windshield with clean washer fluid.
  29. Run the windshield wipers for two complete cycles then turn off the windshield wipers.
  30. Ensure the windshield wipers are in the full park position.

    Front Fender Ornamentation Vent- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install [2x]

  32. Front Fender Ornamentation Vent Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Front Compartment Side Sight Shield- Left Side and Right Side - Install [2x]

    Turn the 6 front compartment sight shield retainers (1) a quarter turn clockwise to install on both sides.

  35. Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling
  36. Perform the camera calibration procedure. Front View Camera - Windshield Learn
