Removal Procedure

  1. GM5823884
    NOTE:

    Left side shown, right side similar.

    Pull down on the roof lift off pane/window latch (1) and rotate latch outward on both sides of the vehicle.

    Pull down on the roof lift off pane/window rear latch (1) and rotate latch outward on both sides of the vehicle.

    Lift the side of the roof lift off window (1) to disengage the removable top locating pin (2) on both sides of the vehicle.

    • Observe the location of the rubber grommets mounted around the removable top locating pin access holes. The grommet may be uninstalled when the roof lift off window is removed. Ensure the grommet is properly mounted before installing the roof lift off window.

    Slide the roof lift off window (1) outward to disengage the roof lift off panel/window rear locating pins (2) on both sides of the vehicle.

  5. Remove left and right side roof lift off windows (1) and place on a cleaned prepared surface.

    Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips on both sides of the vehicle.

  9. Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover (1) - Remove [2x]

    Reposition the weatherstrip as necessary.

  11. Use a flat-bladed plastic tool to disengage the retaining clip at the top of the body hinge pillar garnish molding (1) on both sides of the vehicle.
  12. Body Hinge Pillar Garnish Molding (1) - Remove [2x]

    Use a flat bladed plastic tool to disengage the windshield pillar assist handle covers (1) from the windshield garnish molding on both sides of the vehicle.

  14. Windshield Pillar Assist Handle Cover (1) - Remove [4x]
  15. Windshield Pillar Assist Handle Bolt (2) - Remove [4x]

    Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips on both sides of the vehicle.

  17. Windshield Garnish Molding (1) - Remove [2x]
  18. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

    Insert a suitable flat-bladed plastic trim tool between the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover insert (1) and windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover.

  20. Separate the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover insert (1) from the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover.
  21. Windshield Multifunction Sensor Mount Bracket Cover Insert (1) - Remove

    Using a suitable plastic trim tool, carefully pry downward on the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover (1) to release it from the windshield.

  23. Pull downward to remove the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover (1) from the windshield.

    Open the sunshade support bolt access cover with an appropriate tool on both sides of the vehicle.

  25. Sunshade Support Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
  26. Using the appropriate tool, release the metal sunshade support retainers on both sides of the vehicle.
  27. Sunshade Support (2) - Remove [2x]

    Windshield Upper Garnish Molding Clip (1) - Remove [4x]

    Sunshade Retainer Bolt Cover (1) - Remove [2x]

  30. Sunshade Bolt (2) - Remove [6x]
  31. Squeeze the tabs at the base of the sunshade (3) to detach it from the windshield inner frame assembly and allow the windshield upper garnish molding with the sunshade attached to be lowered on both sides of the vehicle.
  32. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  33. Release the retainer attaching the sunshade (3) to the windshield upper garnish molding on both sides of the vehicle.
  34. Sunshade (3) - Remove [2x]

    Windshield Upper Garnish Molding (1) - Remove

  36. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  37. GM5831068

    Release the retaining tabs.

  38. Rear Window Switch (1) - Remove
