Circuit/System Testing

    NOTE:

    The Appropriate SAC002 Proactive Alert Labor Code Must be used to accurately process the claim. See Labor Time Guide: "Engine/Propulsion Proactive Alerts".

  1. Verify the customer has the Proactive Alert SAC002 from OnStar or by using the Scan Tool "Vehicle Diagnostics" - "Vehicle Proactive Alerts".
    • If Proactive Alert SAC002 is present. 
    1. Verify the battery cable connections are clean and tight and verify Voltage is between 12.0 - 15.0 V
      • Go to next step: If within the specified range 
    2. Test for less than the 0.5 V drop between the positive battery cable at the battery and the positive battery cable at the M64 starter motor as the ignition is placed in the CRANK/START position.
      • If greater than 0.5 V 

        Replace the positive battery cable.

      • Go to next step: If less than 0.5 V 
    3. Test for less than 0.5 V drop between the negative battery cable and the M64 starter motor case as the ignition switch is placed in the CRANK/START position.
      • If greater than 0.5 V 

        Replace the negative battery cable.

      • Go to next step: If less than 0.5 V 
    4. Replace the Battery.
    • Go to next step: If Proactive Alert SAC002 is not present. 
  2. All Ok.
