Installation Procedure

  1. Using an appropriate brake caliper piston spanner tool, slowly rotate the brake caliper piston clockwise while applying inward pressure to the brake caliper piston until the piston is fully seated in the brake caliper housing.

    Align the right edge in the upper notch of the left rear brake caliper piston (1) with the left edge of the caliper logo as shown.

    Align the left edge in the upper notch of the right rear brake caliper piston (1) with the right edge of the caliper logo as shown.

    Rear Disc Brake Pad Spring (1) - Install [2x]

    NOTE:

    The inner disc brake pad is equipped with a wear sensor on the leading edge of the disc brake pad.

    Rear Disc Brake Inner Pad (1) - Install

    Install the brake caliper to the brake caliper bracket. (1)

    Rear Brake Caliper Guide Pin Bolt (1) - Install [2x] - Rear Brake Caliper Replacement 

  9. Electrical Connector @ Parking Brake Actuator - Connect
  10. Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
  11. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  12. With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
  13. Slowly release the brake pedal.
  14. Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps 11 - 12 until a firm brake pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
  15. Fill the brake master cylinder reservoir to the maximum-full level with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling
  16. Calibrate the park brake. Park Brake Calibration
  17. Burnish the brake pads and rotors. Brake Pad and Rotor Burnishing
